Hello, I plan to cut the hatches as described in the book, i recall a builder from this board (possibly Ed Valley) stating that he wished he had lowered the fibreglass hatch lip to allow for a gasket .

When i glass the lip and put the mold release wax on the hatch cover , should i put some sort of temporary spacer in between the hatch cover and the glass lip?

it seems that if i dont, the gasket will raise the hatch cover from being flush with the deck.

i will appreciate any advice regarding the whole hatch building process .
