if you don't make an allowance for the seal at building time, this will happen when a seal is installed. This is not a FOAF story, it's where I am right now. I am faced with the prospect of:
1 -- inventing and installing a zero thickness seal
2 -- epoxying the hatches shut permanently
3 -- reducing the thickness of the hatch where it covers the lip
4 -- removing the lip, and reinstalling it at the correct relative elevation.
5 -- staying with non-flush, spray-throwing, non-watertight, non-invisible hatches
All of these options stink. Make the adjustment now.
