First of all DON'T WORRY!!!, you are learning something new mistakes happen.

I used a knife to trim it while it was still a little soft. When I waited too long I used files, a block plane, a random orbital sander, and a hack saw. Call Pygmy up and let them know what you did, they may send you another panel. If not put the damaged spot on the inside, the crack is easily repairable with epoxy.

Lighten up on the epoxy, almost every builder over epoxies their first kayak.

Relax and enjoy, take your time, you will have a wonderful handling beautiful kayak. I broke one inch off the tip of one of my panels, I am the only one who can find it even if other now basically where to look. I also took apart two of my seams after I did both sides, I can't even see where I did that.

You will see many flaws in your boat, but no one else will. Try to find the broken tip in the picture.
