They hold very well, but a good pilot hole would have to be drilled. Hard epoxy just doesn't deform as wood does when a screw is driven into it. Make sure the pilot hole is as large as the minor diameter of the screw threads. If you do all this in the period of a few days, the epoxy that you squirt in the pilot hole when installing the screw will bond with the thickened epoxy plug under the deck.
