Low initial stability, strong tracking, efficient paddling, and great responsiveness in a light gorgeous boat-sounds just like the Pygmy Std. I built just recently. I too was wondering if I had made the right choice, and once that choice was made, would another kit come along that would be more to my liking and needs? After paddling all summer and building an Arctic Tern for my wife, I can honestly say that the Osprey Std was the right choice. Even after paddling other manufacturers' boats during instruction classes, I still made the right choice. As for the Std vs. the HP-I'm 5'10", 170lbs, and the Std is plenty big for me. It rolls exceptionally, and has held me up in many parking lots talking to onlookers-I made the right decision. If it were to blow off my truck tomorrow and break into a hundred pieces, I would call Pygmy and order another one....
