The worst story I ever heard of from storing a kayak outdoors was from someone who stored their boat outdoors, beside the house, on sawhorses, and presumably well covered. There was a late Spring snow. When they checked on their boat they found that a considerable quantity of snow and ice had built up on the roof of the house, slid off and landed on their kayak. Supported as it was by two sawhorses, the kayak was significantly tested in bending strength. It failed. The kayak was broken in two. Something to keep in mind.
