I can't really shed any light on the differences, but I really like our Tern. It tracks great and is very maneuverable. The CLCs I've paddled were a little more work for me. The secondary stability in the Tern is great. It takes some getting used to though, since at first it feels tippy. But after you've paddled it a while it is a very comfortable boat and I rarely skin my nuckles paddling it. It's great fun in chop. I'm always looking for it. :o)
I wear a size six and a half. So I can't help you out on the shoe size difference. Sorry.
