I was paddling on Allouette lake a few years ago and met a 71 year old man named Gordon Something. He had been camping on the lake for 3 months with trips out every few weeks. He solved the problem of how to carry enough supplies in one boat quite easily. He had two kayaks! One he paddled and one he towed. The second year he also had a canoe that he towed in on a supply trip! He spent most days paddling around finding materials to improve his camp, (It looked like a castle when I saw it!) and the other days swimming and relaxing. He was married, and would go and visit his wife on the important days, like their anniversary and her birthday. I asked him if this arrangement bothered her and he said, "Only if I go home too often!

I went back the next two years and visited him, but this year I didn't get there. This guy was a wealth of information and I spent a lot of time discussing kayaking with him. (He liked to talk even more than I do.)

Oh yeah, he could roll his kayak several times in succession even at 71!!!

Maybe not crazy in a wacky sort of way but I have to smile everytime I think of him.
