Hi Ross,

I to have some of those evil strips, I did pretty much the same thing as you. I also used one of the japanese saw files I got from New Found woodworks at the rendezvous. It worked pretty well for the bad spots where adjacent strips had grain running opposite ways. I gave up worrying about the waviness, figuring I would take care of it with epoxy and varnish. I saw one boat at the rendezvous made by a Highschool buddy of Nicks that complained of the same problem but his boat looked great. After the glass work on My guillemot and several fill coats mine looks pretty good I hope to start varnish this weekend I let you know how it comes out when it gets real shinny. Ya! the boats almost done, did one end pour last night and I'll do the other end tonight.

PS. The strongback on the hatch worked great. And so did the silicone seal on the other hatch. Thanks again!
