All of the ripples are gone and the surface is like "glass".

I do like the suggestions for using the belt sander. The next time this happens, I'll try it.

A comment about grits though. When I used a 60 grit in the ROS, I couldn't get the scratches sanded out, and could see them, but ONLY AFTER the glassing and varnishing was done. They showed up as small, semi circular lines that crossed the grain. I now will only use the courser grits on a fairing board and then try to keep the scratches running somewhat in the direction of the grain. I then use a 100 in the ROS to "take out" the scratches.
