I was referring to this approach ( w/o the 6 string across the coaming) with the 'gut bucket' comment using the rigging stays in cart 2a. This would actually work esp if you pulled on the wheel posts to get a string tension variation as you plucked.
But you could also use the yak as a 3 tone drum set. Just put different levels of water in the back hatch, cockpit and front hatch - tuning it to your preference by varying the levels, and start wapping it with the closest bit of driftwood. Keep yer hatches loose w/ the webbing lightly flopping and maybe even get a bit of snare buzz overtone.
And of course if your foot pump is set up right you can quickly vary the pitch of the 3 tones. Me, I put the yak on an upslant, put the pump outlet into the front compartment, a siphon from there to the rear, the inlet into the main, hole from the rear . And pumping like a madman, I get 3 1/2 octaves!!!!!!(?)
You know that I get pumped on music!
