Rehd, Just too add more questions for you. This is kinda fuzzy to me, but I think there's also a short leaf pine that is the northernmost of the Southern pine species. It was the native of Missouri's natural pine forests. I think all the old growth was logged out by the 20's or 30's. All I know and not sure of that. Tom
