I took a tip someone gave me at a recent builders get-together in Los Angeles and bought an Incr-fence. It is primarily designed for router work but is great for ripping long lengths of thin strips. It can be used on either a band saw or a table saw and produces very consistent strip thickness and is very safe as the strip is not against the fence, so binding is less likely.
