hey Paul, I'm not sure if your deck whacking is new or just getting used to a somewhat high and wide deck, I've been paddling a North Bay for about 1/2 year now and even than boat gets whacked in moments of enthusiasm. I think there's no way around it, if one wants to get close then there's some deck whacking going on. I've got a perimeter line that seems to catch the whacks .
