Here's an option that's a lot of work but has great results. strip the door with chemical stripper. Sand lightly. Apply "wood bleach" which can be purchased at home depot or home base. Letting this sit on the door will get all the pesky little areas clean. Wash and re-finish. Or you could buy a new door at said home depot and use the rest of the day to paddle. Paul
