Like so many others I too built a Putz type kayak. I agree with some about the bow height it seems a little low and while the Putz's coaming is easier to build a custom oval unit is needed if a spray skirt is wanted. I found the kayak very tight around my size 11 feet even though I had stretched it to 18 feet. I also found that using a large radius for the deck beams gives a too flat deck with too little room inside.

I tacked my first yak with copper tacks, a very tedious job but easily done by one. Stretch canvas, press tack into canvas and wood and hammer away. My second boat skin was PVC coated polyseter cloth and stainless staples. Far superior!
