From suggestions that were in the plans for my Panache, I've been making abrasion strips using polypropelene cloth. You buy a linear yard (60" wide) from Defender and it will last you for many boats. I masked off about 1/2" on either side of the stem below the waterline and extending 60" onto the hull. Cut a strip (and this stuff is funky to cut - it slips through scissors), and epoxy it on. Smooth it out with some plastic wrap. When partially cured, cut the edge as you peel back the masking tape. This will give a nice finished edge.
