congratulations !
you're going the right place !
I had a wonderful time there. in june 1995 I went up there, on my way to alaska. I rented all my equipment there. make sure you get all your supplies (& some extra too) in Quesnel. when you get to the park you'll realise that money isn't really usefull over there.
& now, a real safety issue I ran into during my trip:
everybody knows about bear country safety. the park is very well prepared for this purpose. you got lots of "elevated food storage places" in all the camping sites & it's really comfortable with the ladders & everything. I think the park attendants are doing a great job there. the "elevated food storage places" are "bear proof", but they are not "squirl proof", & there are lots of squirls, tons of them, all types & models, ground squirls, regular squirls, water squirls, any squirls, & all of them can easily climb those "elevated food storage place", after all, they do it for living ! & when they are up there, they can easily cut a hole in your back pack, & steal your food ! believe it or not, you'll be left without food. I did ! they took all the bread I had. I learned they don't like pasta, they just thrugh it away & I had to search the area & collect the pasta pieces, piece by piece ! sounds funny ha ? it's not so funny when you're there.
I salvaged one pasta meal. the things that survived where a plastic jar of peanut butter & all the canned food. (it wasn't enough)
people on the way donated me power bars, did you ever tried those power bars ? uhh ! nasty stuff !
I got really angry about this story. they give you so much bullshit on bear safety but they don't say nothing about the squirls/thiefs. the solution for this problem are hard plastic food boxes (besides the "bear proof containers").
I had to hurry up, due to food shortage.
I also capsized near shore. I got really scared, but I had dry & sealed set of warm clothes.
my camera didn't survived the capsize. take lots of film.
don't forget to visit "Barkerville" & also the pulp mills in Quesnel.
