If you can work out the logistics, saftery, etc. There are tubes one can buy from woodcraft called Hollowood. They are a plywood tube covered in exotic veneers. It would have to be sealed with epoxy and some 2oz glass would not hurt either. I think you could also lay up a glass tube over a pressurized plastic water or soda bottle, release pressure to get the bottle off.
