Hi Steve,

It may be possible to use a female form on some designs but you would have to be careful that there was not an area where the strips would wedge in place.

The positive forms are easy to mount and align. They use much less material than negative forms would. And probably the best reason to go with positive forms is that they provide support and stability so that you can easily work on (fare, sand and glass) the outside of the boat.
