Hi Larry Can't remember exactly what I did but I don't remember it being a problem. I usually just cut and leave lots to trim, then keep trimming till it looks right. They say if it looks right it likely is. gettin the recess perfect is not a big deal I don't think as long as there is room for the cockpit cutout and a corner at the front of the opening for a knee brace.
