How small do you want it?
Have you considered Nick's S&G?
Or possibly a skin kayak? They go together quickly can be whatever dimensions you want and are generally very light and inexpensive. If you just want a day boat that is a plus because some of the is taken up by the ribs and stringers.
I've been considering a lower volume version of the Walrus, either wood or skin.
Give us more specifics and we may be able to help some more.
