hello garland,
you are right. some of the glass tapes have one rough edge that ends up being "high" after the epoxy cures. I simply scrape it a file after 12 hours or so. it's quick & easy. definitely easier that cutting your own tape.
actually, I also file the other edge of the tape, the "good" edge, because it also create a "step down" to the wood.
after the filing I put a second coat of epoxy, & everything comes out completely smooth & shine. after I figured out what I just described, I consider everything else "shortcuts".
I think somebody on this board mentioned that the tape from RAKA doesn't have this problem. never tried it though. it's nothing anyway.
