One could continue stripping past the aft edge of the cheek plate, all the way around the back of the cockpit to the other cheekplate. Why? Well, I thought this might be a good way to make a curved strip panel that one could use as a curved backrest.After stripping all the way around, simply cut off the part below the coaming as you normally would, but in this case the 'scrap' would have enough depth to be used as a backband. Of course, you must not use any glue between the aft edge of the cheekplate and the next strip.Calculate in advance how many strips you want to remove from the centre to end up with a perfect width for your own lower back, and do not use glue here either.This would give you a curved strip backrest with a portion that is even with the cheekplate through which you might run the webbing strap to attach to the cheekplate. Anyone ever actually try this before?
