Yeah, sandpaper!! (a 5" disc of this "magic sandpaper" attached to a Random Orbital Sander works wonders. Don't use all that elbow grease trying to sand it by hand--let the ROS do the work for you. Do not force the sander into the wood, though--it will cut the much softer wood still leaving the epoxy high. Hold the sander flat against the surface and let it slowly sand off the epoxy bumps.

Option #3: if the epoxy isn't cured yet (still in "green" state) it can be easily shaved, planed, scraped, or whittled off. Once it's cured, sanding, and maybe scraping are your only options.
