I hold mine down with 3 pieces of 1 inch webbing with plastic buckles. I was going to put a spacer on top of the hatch (under the straps) to add more pressure but found I didn't need it. They fit pretty tightly, the most I get thru the crack around the hatch cover is a few drops to maybe a half teaspoon of water.
