Well, about 6 months ago I went by Nick's house to buy a set of full size plans for his stitch 'n glue Guillemot, and I finally got the wood and epoxy to get rolling. (Still need the glass cloth though...)
So I spent all day today cutting scarf joints with just a block plane to work with. The looked nowhere as good as I've seen in books and on web sites, but being a less than mediocre craftsman, I am hoping for the best.
I glued panels together to make what will be 2 20' panels tomorrow morning.(I hope) I did use what seemed like a lot of epoxy.
This is my first boat, and I hope to get through the process with at least something that floats, even if it doesn't look as good as it could, or track as straight as it could. As I was carving the last scarf joint, it was looking mucho nicer than the first one, and I was already thinking of how to improve things for the next boat!
Once I cut the panels out I will post a URL so that you can all see my progress. This board has been a wealth of information and inspiration in following up on this project.
