Joining (and fiberglassing) hull and deck

Let's supose I've got my hull already fiberglassed (in and out), and my deck partially fiberglassed (only in).
Is it possible (and, by the way, easier and stronger) to join hull and deck BEFORE fiberglassing the deck outside and then lay the cloth over the deck, with a 2" overhang, glassing this overhang over the hull?
In other words, the deck cloth would cover not only the deck itself but part of the hull...
Thanks in advance
