They told Orville and Wilbur it would never fly

Thanks to one and all for the kind thoughts on my safety, and the other thoughts about my sanity in pursuing this idea.

Maybe that's why they are so easy to grind

Seriously, though, the cedar is such a soft and easily-worked material that I expect no problems with the few strips involved. The larger radius of these cutters will remove less wood than the ones already on the market. That should be an easier cut to make.

Safety is a big issue in my work. That is actally one reason why I think a single bit, with a smaller outside diameter, that can do both cuts would be safer. There would be less torque trying to throw that strip back at you.

The second illustration on the website showed a proposed profile for a bit that would cut the bead on a single pass.

I'm hoping that someone who makes a living out of sharpening bits can do this work for me for a nominal ($3 to $5) price.

Or, perhaps someone will be able to persuade a commercial router bit manufacturer to make a single bit that has the proper profile to cut the shapes we want.

Thanks for the input. If I ever get around to trying this I'll post some results.
