I live in an un-incorporated place called Mckinleyville CA. it's as big as it sounds... It is located just North of Humboldt Bay, about 70- miles south of the Oregon/CA border. There are a few good boat-in camping spots around here, alot more if you are good in the surf zone. I'm still working on that skill, some days, some beaches, no sweat. But you never know what conditions the morning will bring, I have gone South to a place called Pt. Reyes, Tomales bay, excellent***** camping, good paddling, but getting crowded. A friend and I are working our skills up to paddling the King Range NCA on Cape Mendocino, lost coast, 26 miles of undeveloped coastline, but the waves are such that surfers hike in 8 miles to camp and surf Big Flat, When the surfing conditions are good, well... expect to make a spectacle of oneself in a kayak. If anyone out there knows some good spots in So. Oregon,don't be shy. I guess I'm wandering far off the subject of kayak construction so if someone knows a more general Bulletin Board let me know.
