Hello All That methods works well, I have pictures and a CAD drawing of mine on my website. Basically the inside of the box is 3/4", made from three layers of 1/4" strips, the sides are 3 mil marine plywood, glassed, epoxied to the 3 layers. Installed in the hull before the deck was installed. I went with the theory that it would be easier to glass over then to install in the completed boat. The best thing about the skeg is not so much that it improved tracking as it controls the weathercocking allowing you to more easily maintain your bearing.
