Hi Hank;

I'm new to the low angle block planes also, but would think that 3 degrees isn't going to be dramatically different. The fine cuts these planes are capable of should be further enhanced at 9-1/2 degrees. If anything, perhaps it limits the maximum bite you can take - - Which doesn't seem to be a problem with our intended use. I just HAD to take it to my hull, and set it for a very fine cut. It rounded up those beveled strips in very short order! I bet your plane turns out to be excellent. BTW, I had never seen that plane advertised anywhere. Where did you find it? Harbor Freight has the 60-1/2 (mine) for 39.95.
