I just got done beveling the edges of planks 4 and 5 on my Coho. The bevel is at the seam between the deck and hull. Pygmy calls for cutting back the inside 2 layers of plywood at a 45 degree angle here.
Looking at the temporary forms I noticed that the angle between planks 5 and 6, the deck planks, isn't that much less than the angle between the deck and hull, at the joint between planks 4 and 5. I was wondering why they didn't call for a similar operation here. It would reduce the width of the outside seam.
Has anyone chamfered back the planks that make up the deck at the plank 5 and 6 joint or know why I shouldn't? Any other helpful hints or notice of stumbling blocks to avoid on the construction of the Coho would be appreciated.
Thanks, Gary B.
