strips past end form

I am three strips up from the sheer. The strips dont meet right on the end form and seem to all be about 1\2 inch away from the form. I am thinking about trimming them of and planing them as if to mount the stem piece, and then sawing down the centre line and gluing them back together. Any thoughts?
