Ed If you are comfortable working from a set of offset tables, Use the numbers for our Cormorant 16, posted at the link below.

Make the following modifications:

1. Change the station interval form 12" to 9.9". This will give a finished length of about 13' 6". 2. Take 1/2" off the top edge of the side panels to lower the shear. Makes for easier paddling for kids. Decrease the maximum beam to 22". 3. At the rear of the cockpit, put in a bulkhead, but change the deadrise (height of chine above keel) from the 1 1/2" specified to 1". Cut a pattern from cardboard and trim it until it fits good. Stitch the bulkhead in to hold the deadrise until the seams are taped.

Build it from 1/8 luan, tape the inside seams and glass the outside. It should be cheap and fit a 10 year old quite well. Our 9 year old grandson paddles just about the same kayak and loves it.
