This thread is moving into another subject and I'm not sure how to change it so I'll won't worry about it. I looked at a lot of plans because I'm jumbo sized and didn't fit comfortably in a lot of the smaller singles. One Ocean Kayaks have only a couple of models but the proportions (18'x23") works well for my size 13 feet. I think I bought the plans as much for the design as I did for really good construction info on the site. I've read Nick's book and the Kayak Shop about the CLC boats. This guy had some really nice techniques applied to his designs that I liked. One feature I thought was very sharp is how he builds a carbon fiber coaming which is very low profile and very strong, which matters when you are truly jumbo. The black coaming will compliment the VCP hatches and the day hatch I'm seriously considering instead of flush wood hatches. As far as how I like building/using, I have a pile of lumber in my garage and haven't yet started even cutting the strips. I'll be using predominantly redwood for the hull (except for some white pine highlights and red cedar on the very bottom)and red cedar and white pine, integrated with some redwood for the deck. I'll report back as I get into the construction phases. Mitch
