I haven't paddled the Yare yet, but have heard mixed reviews. It is an easy paddling kayak, but is very tippy and the bow plunges even in small waves. It is supposed to be very light, with a dacron deck it should be even lighter, but that also may reduce it's strength. If you are wanting something very lightweight to paddle on protected waters it may be just the right thing. If you are wanting something to take out in rougher conditions, I'd look into something else. You could build your own kayak for that price or less, and get the satisfaction of building it yourself! ;-)
