Hi Tom, I also used Johnsons paste wax, It worked well, I layed up my lips one evening after work and waited until early the next morning to pop the hatch back out. If I had to guess I think it was about 10 hours. It was soft but not sticky when I pulled it. I think on my next boat I'll wrap it in saran wrap instead of using wax. It worked very well when I made up the seal from silicone.
