I've used them on the Cavalier (guttered), felt very secure, good solid aluminum castings. Rubber protectors where they contact the car. I reglued the protectors with black RTV from the Autoparts Store, so they wouldn't get lost. I used aluminum antenna mast from Radio Shack, mounted with 5/16 SS bolts and Elastic Stop-Nuts. If you (like Ross) "don't like no steenking round bars", use a 2x4, or laminate yourself some decorative wooden beams, airfoil shaped, (he's probably done that, too) for real flash and dash!! Now with the Sidekick, I had to invest more than the cost of my canoe (30yrs ago) in Thule gear!(moan) Good luck, a solid investment. TNX, Scotty
