I bought a 12" Grizzly plate sander ($149.00 & 71 lbs.) for doing scarfing. I just squared up the face and mounted a board at a very steep angle and run the strips from right to left. The left side of the board is right up to the edge of the disc sander. My scarfs are about 12:1. Will test them this morning.
