Dean, each application would be different. If the plans suggest that nails should be 6" apart, use a screw instead, then remove the screw after the glue dries, replace with a 1/4" dowel. If you use a scrap piece of wood as a washer for the screw, it's a good idea to tape one side of it so it doesn't get glued to the deck. Bill
