I'm just finishing up a West Greenland style skin on frame from the Sea Kayaker magazine's instructions. It takes just as long to build as a stitch and glue, but only cost me $200 to build and is custom fit to my body--18'4" x 19.5". Can't tell you how well it paddles since the water is cold and I lack the requisite cold water gear, but it sure looks fun.
