Sean,
What type of construction method do you want to use? I have built skin on frame, plywood on frame, and stitch & glue Greenland style kayaks. Also, what type of Greenland kayak, North, East, South, or West? They varied greatly from region to region. I personally like the Southwest style. Northern ones usually had a flat bottom. Eastern ones had a very straight sheer. The Southwest style had upswept ends, a hard chine, and a 'V' shaped hull. The Southwest style is what most people mean when they refer to a Greenland Kayak. It is also what most Greenland Kayak plans are similar to. If you are wanting something else there are drawings with dimensions available from various sources.
The Putz Walrus design was taken directly off of a Southwest Greenland kayak, but scaled up (to a 22" beam) for larger people. It could easily be scaled back down. It is a skin on frame design that I have also adapted to plywood/fiberglass on frame. Cost for the skin version is around $200, and I was able to build the plywood/fiberglass version for even less. The plans are available in George Putz's book "Wood and Canvas Kayak Building".
If you are looking for an even more tradition construction method, the skin kayak plans in "Sea Kayaker" are some of the best available. CLC (Chesapeake, North Bay), Pygmy (Queen Charlotte, Arctic Tern), and Sheerwater (Merganser) all have good Greenland Style" stitch and glue kayaks. All are similar to Greenland kayaks in some ways, but different in others. The "Sea Kayaker" stitch and glue plans are also a good representation of a Greenland Kayak.
Let me know if this helps, or just causes more questions and confusion.
Mike
