Larry, When I went to purchase varnish, I went hunting for Captains Z-Spar. The Captains I found said nothing about UV protection on the label. The Petitt did. I remember using Petitt in my youth, while working at a marina that specialized in restoring old mahogony Chris-Crafts. Many of these sat in the water all summer without problems. It is also a little less expensive. I ended up using Petitt on my stripper, but don't have a long term report as I am just finishing up my boat. For what it's worth- Dave Colant
