Brian, the last line of the "Encouragement" page will clear up some confusion about Georges hostility. "I have been rather abusive here. I am that way because if are looking for help, there is not easy way for you to distinguish between good help and poor help." George is either trying to be helpful, or declare his perceptions therefore in order for others to know of the integrity of his help it will be received as abuse. Confusing I know but there is a consistancy here. As Dean mentions, check the archives.

Brian, the best thing you can do is experiment with different layups,materials,cores,laminates and bend or break them as you wish. That way whatever "method" you use is the one that is making your boat.

George is not a particularly heavy person so his design may suit his mass. I have not seen any posts from him comparing his use of wood/epoxy/fabric with others use of wood/epoxy/fabric. So a lot of noise has obscured any useful exchange of experience let alone data.
