I hate the looks and utility (snagging potential) of above the deck methods. I haven't done it but my strong inclination is to cut a round hole in the deck and inset it. Maybe seal up w/ my good buddy silicone to reduce water infiltration (glass 1st - sealant backup). Minimal foot snag potential as my toes point outward(for me at least!!).
Why make a big event out of a blob??
