That would probley work fine But i used a Bosch Jig saw and a started hole of 3/8 on the outer edgr of the template...then went back and scribed a 3/8 line on the outer form and cut the line out to give me a strong 3/8 for the strips .The real key to this method is insuring that the outer forms are 24x16 with a center line at 12"on each form to line your pattern on .Then marking 7.5 inches from the bottom on this center line to give you exact placement of the pattern the center mark on the pattern hits the 24x16 form in center an the exact hight .I feel its real easy to line up and to insure no twisting Providing that your desk or table is streight and true. One key is to snap your center line befor you rip your ply wood.
