Hey Ross,

Cool fittings - but do you really need them on that beautiful Kayak?

I like the way you laminated the loop. If you wanted a larger support area at the base [for "sideways" strength] you could laminate up the loop at 3 times the width and reshape the overall width to suit after the epoxy was cured. A couple of extra lams at the outside of the base of the loop would add even more area.

While I am changing your excellent idea, check your scrap box for some dark veneer to add an accent stripe to the loop.
