I will be using 3/16 yellow cedar on my wife's Redfish Spring Run. I will be using it for most of the hull, and some accents on the deck. I found it in the fencing section mixed in with the western red cedar. It was perfectly clear and doesn't have the same scent as the red cedar. This is good because my wife is allergic to red cedar dust, she is not allergic to the yellow cedar. It is not overly heavy, it seems lighter than redwood and mahogany. I figure the extra strength in the hull will be nice to have, it will also be easy to spot if capsized. The results should be ready to see at the West Coast Wood Canoe and Kayak Rendezvous (R2K) in August.
Tammy is not sure about having a yellow-bellied kayak though. ;-)
