doesn't have the same scent as the red cedar.
they tried to use Al. Yellow Cedar in California as a structural material in cheaper tract homes several years ago, but, found that when it got wet, and in houses, when the weather got very humid, it took on a very distinct oder. Also, when ripping it. The practice was discontinued after several complaints, and home sales dropped off.
Oh, out here it is refered to as " Piss-Fir ". :(
